My ex husband owes me around 7000 to 8000 in medical support and Enforce current payments that are do the medical providers. Child support recovery unit in Iowa told me I need a court order before they can start garnishment. How do I go about doing this on my own? Or will I need to hire an attorney. Funds are limited because I am still paying off my daughters medical bills. In our divorce decree he is court ordered to pay 63% of all medical/dental bills. He has not paid anything in 6 years.
You’d need to file for contempt for non payment of these monies. Hopefully, you followed the notice requirements for these payments. If not, he’s not in contempt and doesn’t owe you anything.
