Many states have a short period of time (for example, it could be 60 days) where you can rescind the acknowledgement to be removed from the child's birth certificate. Usually your state's vital statistics office will have a form that allows you to rescind paternity within this short period of time. Otherwise, you may need to pursue a paternity disestablishment action through the court and would need to speak with an attorney in person to assist you with drafting this action.
Although I am an attorney practicing law in Nebraska, the answer I provide is for general purposes only and does not establish an attorney-client relationship. If you need legal advice, you should contact an attorney who will discuss with you the specific facts of your case.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
