I was pulled over for tail light dim. Officer said my licence was suspended and asked to search my car. I gave consent and told him about the marijuana pipe in the car. He impounded the car and took me to jail. I didnt get a ticket for the tail light bc it wasnt out and the suspended licence was abstracted and removed from my record. Now i have court for paraphernalia charges. I dont do drugs and the pipe is not mine. My aunt has a marijuana card and was using my car that day. She left it behind by mistake and i hadnt been home to take it out of the car yet. I have never had any charges other then traffic tickets. In court the told me they are going to trial because i didnt ever tell the officer it wasnt mine.I did go through the process to have my aunt be a witness .How do i defend myself
Sounds like you need a lawyer. There is a potential bad stop issue here that could result in suppression of the evidence. I also would advise against representing yourself on this type of case, especially when it is going to be a trial.
You can represent yourself, it is your right. However, I see a lot of great issues and reasons that make this seem like getting an attorney to represent you is the better choice. From the possible faulty stop to your aunt's pipe, there are many issues to argue in your favor here.
An attorney would probably have a better chance of keeping this from going to court at all (which is a possibility), you have a clean record and strong argument points. I wouldn't chance it with self-representation. At the very least, grab a free consultation with an experienced criminal law attorney and see if they agree with my recommendation.
I offer free consultations and have an office close to you in Mesa. I also offer phone consultations and all initial consultations are free. This case is right up my alley and I would be interested in hearing all of the facts and taking a closer look at the court paperwork.
I hope that you found this information helpful.

You don't you hire a lawyer, sounds like there might be a possible motion to suppress, but if you try this yourself you will very likley screw it up. David is right hire a lawyer.
