Our leased vehicle was rear ended while stopped on December 19th, 2018 and rendered un-drive able. Rear end damage only and the other party was 100% at fault.
We called all qualified repair shops nearby (so new car warranty would not be voided) and the earliest opening wasn't until February. There was no use having the vehicle around so it was taken to the repair shop on December 21st, 2018. They were happy to hold onto it until the repairs could start.
Luckily, the repairs officially started early on January 8th, 2019 and were completed on February 18th, 2019.
I've spoken to the at fault parties insurance and they acknowledge they will cover our lease expenses while the vehicle was being repaired. My question is, what about the time the vehicle was un-drive able waiting for repairs (December 20, 2018 thru January 7, 2019)? Should the other parties insurance cover this?
There's no fault on us for the vehicle being hit and rendered un-drive able, and we did everything we could to get the repairs done legitimately and quickly.
FYR, our lease is $943.40 p/m = $589.30 for the 19 days waiting for repairs.
Thanks in advance.
