My son currently has my maiden name and I was hoping to change it to my fiancé’s last name. His biological father didn’t sign the birth certificate and never wanted any legal rights as his father. I’m just unsure on where or how to go about changing his last name.
1. You cna do it vy filing a name change i your local court, or in the existing paternity case or support case if there is one.
2. Don't change it yet. Wait until you are married. Don't give your child a permanent connection until one exists between you and your boyfriend. Better yet, do it as part of an adoption, if the biological father truly wants nothing to do with the child.
