How do I best find a lawyer that specializes in libel / defamation in CT?

I would suggest you search for "litigation" or "civil litigation" attorneys. From experience I can tell you that these cases are very "fact-driven," and often the issue of "damages" can be just as important as the issue of the libel/defamation itself. In other words, you may need to be able to prove what financial award is appropriate to compensate you for the damage caused to your reputation. Often people have no trouble proving that there was libel/defamation, but struggle to show any significant/ascertainable damage as a result. You should sit down with an attorney to discuss the specifics of your case.
Avvo has the best lawyer finder tool to locate a defamation attorney very close to you, but they typically want 5k up front. Good luck.
I would think a personal injury or civil litigation attorney would be your best bet. Good luck, those claims are difficult cases.
