My mom has had circulatory and aging dementia/alzheimers for years, then she had a blood clot and bleeding in the brain and a stroke. Her condition is getting worse, and she makes unsafe, unsound decisions that have caused her harm. Sometimes she is lucid, but she forgets a lot, even minute by minute, over and over again. She can't take care of her finances or medical issues, or any important business that you have to do in your life in a daily basis. I bathe, dress, and cook for her. She has to be transferred to toilet from wheelchair, and back to chair, because she can barely walk, her right side was paralyzed by the stroke, and also gave her brain damage. She can barely talk, read or write because it is jumbled up in her brain also from Apraxia and Aphasia. Someone has to take care of her 24/7 to protect and care for her needs. She only wants to sit and watch tv all day, but cant tell you what she is watching, and what is happening. The stroke was caused by Kaiser allowing her to go off of Warfarin (blood thinner), after being on it over 50 years because of her history of blood clots so she could get a cortizone shot in her spine.
You file the petition to be appointed her conservator of her person and estate. Suggest you seek help from a probate attorney on this.
