A couple months ago I received a letter from NJ stating that I have to appear in court. It gave no in depth explanation as to why so I looked up the case on their website and it says outstanding warrant the date of the said car incident was 12/01/18, during that time I was about 5 months pregnant and was at work (Uber to and from work) , I haven't been driving since November of 2018 and I definitely haven't been in Jersey! I am a single mom of 2 young kids, I can’t just pick up and head to jersey over something that I didn't do, is there any other way to get this handled?
I would suggest that you hire an experienced attorney to find out what the warrant is all about and to help you to get the best outcome. You can also call the courthouse to find out yourself before you decide to hire an attorney. Good luck.
If you have been summoned to appear in court you cannot safely disregard the summons. Speak with a criminal lawyer and prepare your defense. The government has the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
