She has been living with me for four years. I don't know where her parents are. Her father sent her to me from Jamaica. Her mother sent her to Jamaica to her father when she was five.
If you are a relative of the child you could seek temporary custody in the Florida courts. If you are a friend of the child's parents, then you could seek guardianship of the child, especially if the parents consent to it. Having the parents physical address and their written consent to your taking custody will simplify the process.
Are you related? That is important because you may be able to file for ckustody as extended family. If not, find the parents now, and then get to an attorney so that this little girl can be assured of solidity in her life, structure, etc.
