I was arrested in 2006 or 2007 for domestic violence, after court the judge had dropped the charges down to disturbing the peace on the terms that anger management classes were taken. Which I took back then. So just recently I went to purchase a firearm and the background check came back unresolved. So the store wouldn't sell me the firearm. My offense happened in Washoe County, but I was arrested by the City of Sparks police department. Who would I talk to about getting this cleared up so I can purchase firearms again?
You should contact an attorney in the jurisdiction where the conviction is to look into it for you—sounds like Washoe County. That person can see if the charge was truly reduced at closure or if there’s an issue. You could also contact your original attorney if possible.
