I was called by family, to go to a nearby hospital because my brother was a victim to a head on collision wich put him in a critical intensive care, due to many broken bones 60-70% of his body and some bleeding of his brain. All we found on his property was the storage impound slip, marked with the agency's name LAPD VTD. We believe other drivers were racing opposite from him. 1driver decide to cross onto incoming traffic, were my brother was driving and crash head on?? Police agency would not give us his family any inf. Where confused and shocked to what happen. Please help..
Often times you can obtain the face page of the police report from the police station the same day which identifies the parties involved in the accident (if it was not a hit and run). The full report is usually ready in a few weeks, depending on the department. The insurance company must be notified. I had a similar case where the victim's rehabilitation and future care damages where incredibly high. I had to obtain therapy for my client on a lien basis because she did not have health care insurance. There are various layers of procedure you will need to follow to make your brother whole again physically and monetarily. Good luck and hope he has a full recovery.

I hope your brother is doing well. You are able to request the police report from the agency that issued the report. It seems like your brother was not at fault for causing this accident, and hence, he will be entitled to compensation for his damages. You should retain a competent attorney to pursue your brother's claims. That attorney can obtain the police report, as well.
Contact the Los Angles Police Department, Valley Traffic Division (LAPS VTD), 7870 Nollan Place. Panorama City, California 91402. (818) 644-8000. You should be able to speak to the officer in charge of the investigation as well as obtaining a copy of the police report. You should first make sure your brother receives all appropriate medical treatment. Then contact a competent personal injury lawyer who can protect your brother's interests and obtain the compensation he deserves. Good luck.

The procedures for obtaining the Traffic Collision Report (TCR) for a California motor vehicle accident depend on the jurisdiction. Generally speaking, you will need to obtain the mailing address for the entity that had jurisdiction over the investigation of the collision and submit a request for a copy of the TCR. Based on the information provided, that entity would be the LAPD in this particular case.
Write a letter to the LAPD unit in charge of releasing TCR information. Make sure to include the date of incident (DOI) and the name of the involved parties. It is OK if you do not know the names of ALL of the involved parties. Make sure to include a document showing that you are authorized to act on behalf of your brother, such as a Power of Attorney (POA) document. It may be easier to leave this task to an experienced personal injury attorney.
After your brother is released from the hospital, begin a search for a qualified Los Angeles personal injury attorney.
My heart goes out to your family during this difficult time. Hopefully your brother will be able to make a full recovery from his injuries.
It is important that you hire a competent attorney immediately as the preservation of evidence is often critical to obtaining a recovery from the responsible parties. While the most immediate concern is assuring your brother receives proper medical treatment, an experienced lawyer can help in that regard as well, the determination of the location of the accident and the hiring of expert witnesses to examine the scene of the accident are often the most important steps that can be taken to pursue a successful case that can help pay for present and future medical care.
You should find an attorney with an established record of having handled and tried serious injury cases. While many attorneys claim to be "experts" in the handling of personal injury matters, very few have ever tried a case to a jury and many make unsubstantiated claims of being competent to handle such cases when in fact they do not have the necessary qualifications to handle such cases. Brief research on Avvo and other internet sites can quickly lead you to a competent attorney with the necessary background and experience to successfully handle a case such as yours where serious injuries are involved.
A police accident report can be obtained from the police department. A personal injury lawyer can do this for you and investigate any and all claims, thus, best bet is to search Avvo's "find a lawyer" for a personal injury lawyer in your city or state and get representation.
