I was pulled over today because my tag was crooked and after requesting to see my license the officer told me that my license have been suspended since 2014. I have been told that they were suspended in for failure to appear for tickets received in 2013. Failure to stop at stop sign and no proof of insurance. No bench warrant was issued. I was told by the court that I have to request a court date, pay a $480 fine, and another 100 to the DMV to have my license reinstated. I have read that tickets have a statute of limitations of 2 years. Can I fight this?
The statute of limitations which you refer to is just the time limit for you to be formally accused of a crime, which was met wh n you were given a court date to appear that you apparently missed.
That being said there may still be defenses in your cases, use the find a lawyer tab on this site and speak to a traffic ticket attorney in your area.
