Absent parent owns his own business, he owes child support on numerous kids. Mine as well. Son is 25 and wheelchair bound, muscular dystrophy. AP is a con artist, and pretty smart at it. Paid once in 2010, because he was forced too. Jan. 2016, (Agreed Judgment For Citation of Contempt & other Relief), respondent was ordered to pay 200 monthly. A review set for March 2016. Then a Re-Setting Order because the hearing wasn't heard. Continued by order of the court to may 2016. He made a payment in March & April. (Trying to look good) because he doesn't pay for any of his 10 or so kids shattered about. He get his license re-instated, granted a 5 month time to prove himself. He owns his own business, registers vehicles, etc in other people's names, always moves when found, never pays taxes as I know of. Is this a normal thing to be granted? There are stacks of contempt orders for 25 yrs. I wouldn't doubt it if he owes $70,000 (For all of his kids that he doesn't support) I also found out that one of the other mothers was told the same when it came to her case. They do multiple cases at the same time? Is it true that as long as he pays 1 dollar a month in back arrears, he's in the clear?
While there are statues pertaining to general relief it is granted at the discretion of the agency. DHS grants a lot of leeway in order to facilitate the Parent with the children receiving some form of monetary relief. While the state is quick to put deadbeats in jail they initially will attempt to work with the non-paying parent because if they are put in jail they ultimately cannot pay anything. I know that arrears are usually anywhere from $25.00 to $100.00 on top of regular support.
