My sister and I bought a house together she passed away and left her half to my mother whom than passed and left it to my sister and her husband. They are divorced and my sister signed her fourth over to me but my ex brother in law wants his fourth now the judge has ruled I have to sell and he doesn't have to pay any part of the remaining mortgage I have to pay everything.
You can try to hire a lawyer and appeal the case.
Was a complete accounting submitted to the judge? If your sister had signed the mortgage and when she passed away, you probably took care of her share of mortgage. It should have gone to her estate. Did you have a lawyer that represented your side? Did you file a complete accounting to the judge?
My answer is for general informational purposes only. A personal consultation with a local attorney is recommended for good results.
