My family is in California and my mom wants to give me power of attorney for my sister who has cerebral palsy. My sister lives in a home for special needs. My mom lives off social security and therefor is in a tight budget. I live in Texas, I’m trying to find a starting point without having to travel. What’s an estimate cost? Is it possible to do without traveling?
Only your sister can grant a Medical or a Durable [Financial] Power of Attorney appointing an agent for herself.
Since she is in California, either of these documents would be governed by California law.
