My sister (65) and myself (62) have rented an apartment for the past year. Our rent is always paid on time. My son visited with his service dog and ended up staying off and on for 3 weeks. Therefore, the option to renew our lease was rescinded. We applied at another apartment and they chose not to give us a lease after talking with the current apartment.; We will replace the blinds in the bedroom that were damaged. My income is extremely good and I have worked for the State of NC for over 30 years. We are concerned that we will become homeless. We have to leave by June 30th. Is there anything that can be done? We need help. Thank you
A landlord is not REQUIRED to renew a lease.
Did the landlord give you a reason why yo are not being renewed? I find it hard to believe that the ONLY issue was that you had a visitor for three weeks.

Absent a contractual promise to the contrary, the landlord is not required to invite you to renew, although the landlord must still honor the current lease until it expires. If you and the landlord cannot come to an amicable understanding about the service dog and/or any other issues, your recourse would be to remain where you are until June 30, but to arrange new lodgings elsewhere. Not necessarily fair, but legal.
