So my girlfriend and I have recently parted ways. We bought a house together although she would not allow my name on it so it is in her name. We both lived there over 2 years together. Splitting bills, expenses, etc. I now also have a Lowes credit card with debt from the house she refuses to pay even though it is from the house. On top of that, my step father gifted us $7k dollars towards the house in which I need to pay half back which she refuses to have anything to do with. Any legal advice would be greatly appreciated as I would like to at least recoup my debt.
It is time for you to get a lawyer. There are no magic words of wisdom that we can offer to make get instantly resolved.
You are at the right place. Find a good lawyer on AVVO and discuss options of suing her. Remember, the suing is easy. The collection is often more difficult. Especially if she lives in PA where there is no wage attachment for this type of debt. I hope this helps.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals.
