I was driving on a suspended license and got stuck on the train tracks. called 911 to stop train and the arriving officer said he had to take possession of the vehicle and had it towed. I brought $850 (the current balance owed to the tow yard) they required the citation issued, a form of ID, and amount owed. I was informed over the phone that all I needed was the citation, and amount owed. upon receiving the citation the officer on the scene confiscated my drivers license due to suspension. the tow yard wouldn't accept my money without state issued Id . now they have a lien on the car and the state put a hold on my license because of the lien. I'm now eligible to reinstate my license but the lien is preventing it. the amount of the lien has grown daily to an amount beyond more than I could ever pay. Its preventing me from working . In my line of work I need my license.
Sorry, but this is a real estate law question; you might get better responses if you post this on another forum, here at AVVO - although I admit I have no clue which one.
Hope this helps,.

Unfortunately pay it off of they will auction the car and use the proceeds to pay the lien, and perhaps you can get back your license then. It was rightfully towed as you should have never been driving in the first place. The tow yard didnt cause this, you did to begin with driving on a suspended license.
