I had to leave to travel to my family in Ireland this year. My building was taken over by new landlords. I couldn’t pay my full rent but offered to pay some they refused. When I got back to New York in October I found a man in my apartment removing all my personal property he threatened me and I was afraid and left when I got back all my property was gone. I had no paperwork or court paperwork or anything and no marshal notice or locks changed I am sleeping on the floor with nothing please help.
How do you know the apartment wasn't burglarized? If no court proceeding then there is no legal eviction. If the landlord stole your property that is a crime and police may arrest the landlord or the landlord and persons working for the landlord. Meanwhile if you were not evicted by court process make sure you paid the rent.
