My divorce decree was signed 4/1/2014. It states the husband shall keep in full force the life insurance policy for $500,000 with the wife as beneficiary for a period of 4 years from the divorce decree with the wife as the owner and beneficiary. If at the expiration of 4 years the wife elects to maintain said policy, she may do so at her cost. The ex husband KNEW I wanted to continue this policy and take up payments, but because I did not tell him until June 1, he claims that he changed the beneficiary and will NOT give me the policy information. He had heart surgery in 2011 and will be difficult to get a new policy on him. We were married 33 years and have 4 adult children. What should I do?
I suggest you contact a lawyer to evaluate your options. Why did you wait until June? Who made the premium payment in April and May?
