I have sent my co-owner a copy of the paid property taxes and I have asked for reimbursement for his share. He has not paid me as of date. How can I get him to pay?
You may not compel co-owner to reimburse you for taxes you paid on co-owned property.
If you collect rent on property, you may offset taxes you paid against distribution to co-owner.
Other available options include:
-buyout co-owner interest;
-sell your interest to co-owner;
-file petition to partition property
You need to retain experienced CA counsel to try to negotiate with him, or retain a litigation attorney to bring a partition action. Use AVVO's Find a Lawyer tool to select a qualified attorney. Good luck. THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE! YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO AN ATTORNEY WHO IS LICENSED IN YOUR STATE FOR LEGAL ADVICE. This is merely suggestions for you to think about in discussing your situation with the local attorney.
