My car was stolen saturday morning. The police department called me sunday saying they found it. It was a total loss. I only had liability car insurance because i could not afford full coverage. They caught the two people in my car and arrested them. Evrything was missing from my car including my step kids car seats.
You can sue the people who stole same or better yet ask the prosecutor to seek restitution for you as part of the prosecution for car theft. Unfortunately, the likelihood of recovering money is not likely.
That sucks. Assuming they are prosecuted, talk to the DA about getting restitution. But, don't hold your breath waiting to get paid.

Sorry to hear about this. As you might expect, it is probably unlikely to receive anything from a civil suit against the defendants. It is also probably unlikely that they will ever pay restitution. There may be State Criminal Victim Compensation Fund that may be available for you. Talk to the DA's office about this. I hope this helps.
