Do your research, ask around, and most importantly, use your common sense. Google reviews can also be a helpful tool to see what attorneys in your area have the abilities you need to get the results you want.

You should try to find a local attorney with child custody experience. They are not hard to find, but if you are thinking to go cheap or pro bono, that will probably be a mistake. If you truly are concerned, and the father is not, then you will be in for a true fight. That is best won by having a true fighter in your corner. You’ll get what you pay for
