If you agree on everything, divorce cases can be done quickly. You should interview a few local attorneys and find out who can help you through the process. Divorce cases can be accomplished in approximately 30 - 45 days if both parties cooperate and sometimes even sooner. You cannot remarry until 6 months and 1 day after service of the papers but your divorce papers themselves could be finished a long time prior to that. Find a local attorney who can get it done the right way. Just a warning. There are paralegals out there who advertise cheap rates but I have had too many cases where they have messed up and then it costs a lot of money to clean it up later. See an attorney and be sure it is done correctly, the first time.

The LA Superior Court's web-site has self help pages for family law litigants. I believe there is also a kind of check list there for what steps need to be taken to obtain entry of Judgment. The minimum time frame for finalizing a divorce is 6 months and 1 day from the date Respondent was served with the Summons and Petition.
