I have been fighting to become my son's Payee for his SSI benefits. I have been told that I supposedly withheld information about my marriage to an immigrant. I know I was never asked anything about marriage whatsoever, because if I had I would have said yes I WAS married (at the time I put my first application to be payee I was married I'm now divorced) but I'm trying to get out of it. Is there anything I can do to help state my case as why I should be my son's Payee. Is there any lawyers to represent me? His current payee is abusing her power as payee. She only gets the things that are necessary for him months after I've been asking for them and then only when she feels she's going to lose her position as payee. Also I don't want her in my life as she is having people following me when I'm walking around town with my son video taping me. She also caused us to lose our apartment because she was mad that I didn't do exactly what she wanted me to which is placing Zach with another family. We are currently living in a homeless shelter. What can be done
Further information is needed. How old is your son? Is the representative payee completing the proper Accounting reports? This link may be helpful: https://www.ssa.gov/payee/.
