I am having difficulty getting my son's father on child support via NC's child support enforcement agencies. I have had my case closed on me twice with no notification in the last 4yrs. At this point it's been reopen for over a year with no progress other than confirmation of his address and that he has a job through a temp agency. My son is 8 years old and my ex has signed the BC and doesn't dispute this is his child. If I temporarily move back to NYC (without my child) for the sole purpose of bypassing interstate agencies that have been very unhelpful, will it help get me the support I am owed? NC isn't doing anything and I cannot afford a lawyer bc I'm already paying one to assist my husband in getting custody of his son, my stepson from a previous relationship.
Avvo is not a cheap alternative to hiring an attorney. We cannot provide you the step-by-step guidance to execute a child support case and get the order to be enforced. That would be representation by remote control and that is strictly prohibited. Without an attorney, anything you do will not work. Court is not for the faint of heart.
Please do not message me here on Avvo. The original question does not accompany your message so I have no idea what you are talking about. Simply respond as a comment under the question and I'll see the comment and know which question your comment applies to. Always remember I am not establishing an attorney/client relationship with you here and I am not giving you legal advice for your case. I am only providing an education in the workings of the law using your fact pattern as an example and in no way am I helping you prepare your case for court. Further, I do not know your case. If you retained a lawyer, do not use Avvo to second guess your lawyer. Your lawyer knows your facts.
