My father died and left me his will. When I tried to get house insurance in my name was asked was my name on the deed. Probate is closed and I have my Deed Of Distribution papers. I was turned down. House insurance is still in my dad's name but, was also told that if something should happen insurance will bnot pay off. What should I do.
If the Deed of Distribution shows that you inherited the house, the insurance company should not deny coverage due to the status of the title. They may make other requirements such as an inspection of the property or roof repairs.

The deed of distribution should do what they need. But if not, you can record that and then get a deed done in your name alone. Call a different home insurance company and get it from them. You do not want this kind of customer service.
