It is way past deadline and I just found out that the transcripts were never sent. I spent money on applications, financial aid applications, sending SAT's scores. And that is all minor compared to the fact that she can only go to a City school at this point. Can anything be done legally?
The potential for any remedy against the high school depends on the specific circumstances of the failure (refusal?) to send the transcripts. If it was oversight or negligence, that is one thing. If it was an implementation of a school policy (unpaid fees, outstanding misconduct issues, etc.) that may be another. You will need to post some additional factual background or consult with a local civil litigator.
My responses to questions on Avvo are never intended as legal advice and must not be relied upon as legal advice. I give legal advice only in the course of an attorney-client relationship. Exchange of information through Avvo's Questions forum does not establish an attorney-client relationship with me. That relationship is established only by individual consultation and execution of a written agreement for legal services.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
