I serve my son’s mom so what’s next?
You need to file a proof of service with the clerk of the court. Service should have been performed by someone who is over the age of 18, and not a party to the case. Have the person who served the papers sign the proof of service and you will take the signed copy and have if filed with the Court.
The information you obtain from The Law Office of John C. Umscheid is not, nor is it intended to be, legal advice. You should consult an attorney for advice regarding your individual situation. We invite you to contact us and welcome your calls, letters and electronic mail. Contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send any confidential information to us until such time as an attorney-client relationship has been established.
You shouldn't have done the serving; as to 'what's next' - it depends on what you filed. If you just filed the petition, you also need to prepare and file a Request for Order to visitation or custody or whatever it is that you are asking the court to do.
