Hi I was wondering if I could find out how possible would it be for someone who has never paid child support and shows up on their credit report, that they owe $20,000, how is it possible that they can move out of state and get a drivers license. Also when the child turns 18 does back child support still have to be paid?
As far as the license is concerned assuming this is RI. Once child support suspends it it should b placed into a national database at operator control in Cranston. If that has not occurred you should contact ur case worker. As far as the child support is concerned to the best of my knowledge it stops upon motion once the child turns 18. However child support will continue until the child's 19 Th birthday if he/she is still in school. As far as the past child support u should contact child support enforcement. There r other options they can take. Good luck
If child support obligations have accrued past the age of 18, they shall continue to be due and owing, sometimes with accrued interest. Meet with an attorney fluent in these matters for most precise advice. There may be some options you have not considered.
