I married my wife 20 years ago and i have been raising my step son since he was 10. He turned 30 on January and I consider him as my son and I even want him to inherit some of my belongings etc. Its a long story but the point is I want But I really want to adopt him and he does so too and his mother is in agreement as well. If this is possible, where would I even star? Who should i call? Where Should I go?
Whether you adopt him or not, if you have a valid will naming him as a beneficiary, hex will inherit what you designate in your will. Your facts don’t state if you have other children from this or previous marriages. Either way if you dont have a will and you don’t adopt him he will not be considered an heir.
Typically adoptions occur in Family Court so you should be looking for a family lawyer
