You should immediately complain to the local code enforcement agency. If the agency cites the landlord, that should strengthen your legal position - see e.g. Civil Code Sections 1942.4 and 1942.5.
If (as it sounds) there are substantial breaches of the implied warranty of habitability, you may well have grounds to withhold rent or pay reduced rent, and may also have grounds to seek a partial rent refund and damages.
