Is it illegal whats shes doing? I dont think the cops can help me or would, i disabled my account. I got her screenshots of the threats.
She is blackmailing me to send her $700 or else she will harm my reputation.
You go to the police.
If you don''t think the police can help you, there is no reason to think some random lawyer can help you. By the way, you do have thousands of dollars to spend on a lawyer who claims he/she can help you?
The above is general legal and business analysis. It is not "legal advice" but analysis, and different lawyers may analyse this matter differently, especially if there are additional facts...
What exactly is your question? This is a question and answer forum, not a recruitment forum. If you are looking for an attorney use the “find a lawyer” feature.
It is unclear what you think an attorney is going to do for you since this is clearly a predominately criminal matter. I suggest you file a police report.
My responses on this website DO NOT constitute a consultation, nor do they establish an attorney-client relationship. Only a written retention agreement signed by client and myself will establish an attorney-client relationship. Please DO NOT message or phone me with further questions or comments as the discussions would be outside this forum and would not be visible to the public (the only exception to this being for serious prospective clients). If you have additional follow up questions or additional facts to add, re-draft them into a new question and repost it.
As others already mentioned, the first thing is to go to the police. Most crimes are also civil wrongs. That's why OJ got both prosecuted criminally and also sued civilly. Extortion is a crime, and also a civil wrong. The thing is, for it to be a worthwhile civil lawsuit, you have to have two things: 1) monetary damages; and 2) some way to actually collect. Most criminals are not worth anything, and you can't have insurance for criminal conduct.
