My Father just moved to the USA and received his green card, but we are unsure about obtaining his health insurance.
I recently got laid off from work so don't have my own health coverage to add my parents, but I am covered under my wifey's insurance. Sadly her insurance (bBueCross) does not allow to add parents or inlaws.
So now I need some kind of insurance for my father .
So my question is: can I just get travel insurance, or will that not work as he is residing in the US permanently?
Or is anyone familiar with Diplomat Long Term Insurance? In the description it says it is for visitors, but not specifically Green Card holders. Please please help as my father is old and I am pretty sure delicate and will need a lot of insurance.
P.S. port of entry can be WA and or IL.
It is best to connect with a Health Insurance Broker ( I am a citizen and I work with one because there are too many choices for me to decide - I let the professional pick a few choices for me that fit my personal situation and then it's much easier to choose). For this year, there are short term health plans you can choose that provide excellent insurance options but they are not Obama Care compliant. However, it's good coverage as long as you don't have pre-existing conditions. That being said, I am not a health insurance broker and that's why you should speak to one for assistance. Does not cost any extra
