First my landlord gave me a final notice before legal action. Then he ghosted on the various agencies who were trying to pay off the back rent. He showed up the day before the rent was due and said never mind , that the neighbor who owns the well was shutting off the water and we just had to get out. The first time we all left the house, I came home to padlocks on the doors. Human services put us up in a hotel for 3 days. I came to check the mail 2 days later and found he had burned all my autistic son's belongings, including his mattress, his clothes and 1k worth of eye glasses. He also burnt my daughter's bed and bedding and her entire wardrobe. Over $6400 of our belongings were destroyed. We moved back in while waiting for housing. Then he posted a 3 day eviction notice with the wrong address on it, and I waited to be summoned to the magistrates office. No summons ever came. I am having him charged with criminal mischief. He just showed up at the door and said we had had 30 days and need to be out by 5 o'clock. Am I incorrect in believing that he's gotta take us to the magistrates, then 10 days after that he has to file for possession? One bedroom is covered in black mold.
