Got married last year, Filed for my green card this year. Every thing was going on fine, and we got our interview date for next week. We were told to bring divorce decree of my wife former marriage. called her lawyer, and he promise to get the papers to us because my wife lost her copy. He called today to confirm that her first marriage is still valid after a divorce decree was issued initially. What can we do? and will the state of Kentucky issue a marriage license and certificate to us if she is still married to her ex husband? kind of confused. Also, Should we delay going for the interview or show up that day.?
1. Get an experienced immigration attorney immediately to handle the immigration matter.
2. Finalize the divorce.
4. Have the immigration attorney refile.
