I got served some papers by a lawyer asking mecto respond in 21 days regarding a debt I have with golds. I'm tired of this and I just rather pay than continue to deal with them.
How would I go about setting up a payment plan since the papers don't say anything about that, just about court.
Call the attorney's office listed on the top of the complaint/summons and negotiate a full settlement and release. If you are able to pay the debt off immediately they may be willing to negotiate the amount. You may want to start by offering to pay 50% of the debt owed if you can pay immediately. If you need a payment plan you might not get a break on the total amount. Whatever you agree to make sure you get it in writing signed before you make any payments.
As previously stated any agreement for settlement that you might be able to come to through negotiations with the Gold's Gym attorney needs to be in writing and you need to review it first before signing and agreeing to it. Too often individuals work out agreements on collection matters only to sign the written agreement with our really reading it or understanding it. I would recommend having an attorney review the written agreement also before signing to make sure Gold's Gym has not included any language that could potentially keep you on the hook.
