i have a J1 visa It will expire on 7th of July. But I applied for changing of my visa status to F1. I got written test on April. I will have driving test this week. But I think they will give me a license but it will expire on July. I applied for visa but it takes time to come. How can I renew it
When you extend/change your status I believe you just take your proof of status to the DMV, but you should call their customer service line to be sure.
That will be entirely up to the DMV in CA. I am almost sure, however, that the DMV will not agree to renew/extend your driver's license beyond the date of your J-1 status, as shown on your I-94, which you should download from www.cbp.gov/I-94, if you haven't already done so. When you are at DMV ask to speak with a Supervisor - only!
