So my work ONLY offers direct deposit but my bank account has been frozen. Ironically I cant hire a lawyer for bankruptcy because I have no access to my income and I am essentially now working for free since my work will not cut a check. Do I really have to go find another job just so I can get a physical paycheck that I can cash somewhere so I can have funds for a lawyer? I wont be able to commute to work soon anyway because once my cash on hand is gone I'm screwed. What can I do to have access to my income? Please help! Thank you!
Your bank account has been frozen because a garnishment or similar action has been filed against your account. If it is a garnishment, it has been filed to enforce a judgment entered against you, and the account will remain frozen until an order of payment has been entered by the court. If your employer only pays you by direct deposit into your bank account, open a new account with a new bank! Have your pay direct deposited into the new account. Another alternative: take the money in cash. Worst things to do: 1. Nothing. 2. Keep putting money into the same bank where your account is frozen. Consult with a local attorney for more information.
