Going 76 in a 60 @ 6am on interstate hwy in the far left (passing) lane. Ticketed for 5 over. First time ticket. What should I do? Definitely going over 60 but hwy was basically empty and I was not swerving in and out of traffic.
I would recommend speaking to an attorney that fights tickets and contesting the infraction as we can often times keep the ticket off of your record. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Hire an attorney to contest this so that you have the best chance of beating the ticket and preserving your deferred option as well as your insurance premiums.
It depends on the evidence against you and what your priorities are (saving money or protecting your record). An attorney can help you by obtaining the evidence, and then either arguing to dismiss the ticket, or by working with the prosecutor to negotiate an amendment to a non-moving violation (which will not count against driving record or car insurance). Many attorneys give free consultations, I recommend that you speak with a couple to find out more about your options. Best of luck, Shane.
