Hello. I am a Syrian citizen living in the US legally. My parents obtained a B1/B2 visa on 2/25/2017 - ie after the first executive order was held. They are planning to come to the US on 3/28/2017. I am trying to know if the new executive order will ban my family from entering the US. The new executive order states that people who had valid visas on Jan 27, 2017 will be exempt from the ban but I have not been able to determine if the ones who had visas after Jan 27 will be banned or not. Your help will be much appreciated.
This has not gone into effect yet, and there will be court cases about it, so no one can give you a solid answer. However, I did read the executive order, and I can tell you what it looks like. One would have to have had a visa by 5pm on 1/27/17 *or* have a visa tonight when the executive order goes into effect. So, the ones who received visas between Jan 27 and March 15 should be okay, but we have to see how the agencies and the courts interpret this. If they interpret differently, I could be completely wrong. No one has a crystal ball.
