The bureaus will also accept a w2 or a pay stub with that full number displayed. You may try finding those forms from your employer and submitting them as an alternative. The bureaus get contacted so frequently by people that they have had to create gatekeeping devices like the ID, SS, & Proof of Residence verifications.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may need to consult with an immigration attorney in your area to make sure that you don't need to update any records. If you have not applied for a social security number you can do so with your visa. If you have a social security card - it will be blue and probably say that it is limited for the length of your work visa. It sounds like you will probably need to go social security every year to obtain an updated card- then you can obtain an updated credit report. I hope this helps and good luck!
