Online says under disposition Terminated no complaint filed upon going to my arraignment at the window I seen in file folder a paper that had a big stamp that said rejected . It was a new case with Justice courts so there wasnt much paper work in folder other than a page with my fingerprints and the stamp on there. Does this mean the DA rejected my case? The woman at the window however said nothing was filed but the state has a year so im just confused. Thanks.
Basically the county attorney decided there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute the case. They still have one year to further the investigation and eventually charge the case.
Without looking at the actual court documents, a direct answer is not possible. The State has one year from the date they identify you as the possible perpetrator of a misdemeanor crime to file charges in court against you. There are many reasons why the prosecutor may decline to proceed right from the get go, but I have seen many times when they file at or near the deadline to preserve the case.
