Prednisone is known to affect the long bones and cause aseptic necrosis affecting specifically the femoral neck of the femur as well as the humerus bone in the arm.
There have been lawsuits based on a link between avascular necrosis and this drug.

Prednisone is a corticosteroid. It's chronic use puts one at risk for osteoporosis (which hastens fractures of the spine, hips, and wrists most notably) and inexplicably, even isolated use, can trigger aseptic necrosis.
