I think they arguably could not provide you with a copy.
The comments listed here are of a general nature and are not offered to create a formal attorney-client relationship -- that is, I am not, and I cannot give you legal advice here. I am Iowa licensed and, to become your attorney, I need to understand the particular facts and circumstances of your legal question and most likely meet you face to face.
If you are an employee as opposed to an independent contractor you can get a copy by quoting this statutory section:
91B.1 Files — access by employees.
1. An employee, as defined in section 91A.2, shall have access to and shall be permitted to obtain a copy of the employee’s personnel file maintained by the employee’s employer, as defined in section 91A.2, including but not limited to performance evaluations, disciplinary records, and other information concerning employer-employee relations.
No attorney/client relationship exists until a fee agreement is signed. This is legal information not legal advice.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
