Does and officer have to show you his radar gun and calibration log if asked when pulled over?
1 attorney answer
the officer is not required to show you his radar gun calibration or his records on scene. However, if you contest the ticket he will have to provide you (OR YOUR ATTORNEY) with the calibration records, the read-out records and his qualifications to use the radar. Use "find a lawyer" to find a local experienced attorney who handles tickets in the area where you received the ticket. They will be familiar with the judge/magistrate who may be hearing your case. Additionally, they will know which documents that the officer needs to present to prevail. Usually, if the officer brings all that is necessary, the lawyer will be able to get you a withhold of adjudication which will save you points and insurance rate hikes. Good luck.
