Does ABA require lawyer and client to have written contract and does the cost needed to be included?Where in ABA is this stated?
The American Bar Association is a professional organization. While the ABA is influential in the legal field, it has no authority to regulate any attorney.
In WA, the WA State Bar Association licenses and regulates attorney in WA.
While the WSBA recommends that attorneys have written agreements with their clients to lessen the risk of misunderstanding between attorneys and clients, the only time the ethics rules in WA require attorneys to have a written agreement with clients is when the fee arrangement is for a contingency.
The ethics rules can be found at www.wsba.org .
