I got stop for speeding in a school zone supposedly doing 29 in a 20, had left one light before doing 17 mph their was another light that was red 5 to 10 feet behind the school zone flashing lights. When I pull over the said I was doing 29 in a school zone I told him I was doing less than 20 because the light was red he peeped in my car seen I had a radar detector in my car, with he didn’t hit me with, but this is what the officer said he got me speeding with a license plate reader that sent back the speed of 29 mph in the school zone. Should I fight this knowing no license plate reader send back speed on a automobile
Would have to know the specific setup they have their and how they calibrate it. It might be worth getting an attorney to challenge it since it is unlikely to be scientifically valid.
I don't know of any license plate reader that records speed, but many officers do use the license plate as a target for their speed detection devices. Maybe that is what he said or maybe he misspoke. You could be eligible for Drivers Safety Course or Deferred Disposition to get the ticket dismissed, or you always have the right to go to trial.
