We live in Texas. I am ordered to cover my children on health insurance, but I elect to cover them on dental and vision as well. Since it's my benefit and I choose to cover them, do I have to share the benefits of my policy with my ex? I understand we each pay 50/50 of expenses, but shouldn't my 50% first come from what insurance is paying? In other words, if braces were $1000 and my insurance paid $500. Shouldn't that cover my 50% since I'm electing to pay the monthly premium?
You would need to review your divorce decree for this answer. Although this question applies to insurance, it is really more of a family law question, so I will make it post in that category.
