I just recently got a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia. I had a little thing of weed and 3 pipes that they took. And I can't afford the ticket price and I am trying to get community service for it. But have to plea guilty or no contest and am not sure which one to plea. I just need to cheapest thing to do
If you have a public defender the cheapest option is to make them prove the facts against you at trial. If that is the case though, they can use posts like this as evidence against you. If you don't have a PD then your cheapest option is to try to negotiate with the prosecutor yourself and get community service. Good luck.

I would usually recommend a no contest plea if the state will offer you deferred. Just go in and speak to the prosecutor, if you don't have an extensive record they may be willing to negotiate on the fines.

In the eyes of the criminal justice system no contest and guilty are the same thing and it will result in a conviction on your record. Unless there is a civil suit it really doesn't matter. You should try to get a deferred probation so you could later come back and get a petition for non disclosure instead of having a drug conviction on your record.
